FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a meeting to nominate candidates for the 7th Wildlife District representative.
This meeting will take place on June 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
The commission is a nine-member board comprised of volunteers. These volunteers typically serve a four-year term.
The members are nominated by licensed hunters and anglers. The name of the top five candidates chosen will be submitted to Governor Matt Bevin. Bevin will appoint one of the candidates to a term that ends in August of 2023, subject to Kentucky Senate confirmation.
The 7th Wildlife District includes Breathitt, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Owsley, Perry and Pike counties.
