Kentucky Career Center hosts job fair offering 20 jobs to Appalachia families

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky Career Center hosted a job fair for Hurley Electrical Contracting on Thursday.

Workers say they are looking to fill 20 jobs with skilled, hard-working, local people.

Cable linemen and groundmen are of the positions needing to be filled.

Those handing out applications say travel is required but workers can still live at home in the mountains.

"The companies that hire us, they are filling these positions," Jessie Hurley said. "There's work out there they are putting out. We're getting a lot of it. If we don't fill these positions, they are still going to be completed by someone else in another state or another region. We're trying to bring back as much to Eastern Kentucky as we can."
