PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - The results are in for the Pike County Family Court Judge election.
Kent Varney, who was appointed to serve as the Circuit Judge for the 35th Judicial Circuit District Family Court by Gov. Matt Bevin earlier this year, has officially been elected to remain in the seat.
Varney secured 8,705 votes while his opponent, Justin Cory Hamilton, closed out the night with 6,606.
Varney watched the results come in at the Pike County Clerk's Office before going to the Coal Run Community Center for a celebration rally with his supporters.
"You cannot win an election without having a team behind you and I had the best team in the world," Varney said. "I'm truly humbled by this and I'm going to do the best job I can do."
He said he wanted to thank all of the supporters and voters who helped in his victory.
