PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Update 1:15
KY-40 is back open after a rockslide that blocked the roadway on Sunday morning.
An official from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said most of the rocks were moved to the shoulder, the remaining rocks and debri will be removed on Monday.
Superintendent of KYTC District 12 Barry Spriggs says that Ky-40 past the Paul B. Hall Medical Center in Paintsville will be closed most of Sunday, December 1st.
The fallen rocks are covering both lanes and, according to Superintendent Spriggs, are large enough that they might need to be broken up before they can be moved.
Equipment was sent towards the area around 9:15 a.m. but it is uncertain how long the cleanup might take.
In a statement, Spriggs said to "Just tell people that the road will be closed in this area most of the day".
