KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE 1:00 a.m. February 9, 2019

Kentucky Transportation officials say all lanes of KY 7 are open and the hill appears to be stable.

Kentucky Transportation officials warn drivers that traffic is restricted to one lane on KY 7 while crews deal with a mudslide.

The slide is between mile point 13 and 14 in Pump Station Hollow.

"Right now our primary goal is to get the trees removed from it, all the vegetation," said Bobby Smith with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The slide happened Thursday afternoon. Officials say it was caused by the weather during the past two weeks.

"Extreme cold temperatures we had a couple weeks ago, the freezing and thawing plus all the rain that we had," Smith added.

Others like Doug Howard, who live right across from where the slide occured say they are not worried about it coming down anymore.

"Nothing has moved anymore than it had yesterday," said Howard.

Officials say they hope to have the road opened to two lanes by Friday evening, but will need to test the stabilization of the slide before they can.
