KSP host second annual ATV ride for Shop with a Trooper Program

KNOTT, Ky. (WYMT) - Most organizations have a bake sale or host a 5K to raise money but Kentucky State Police Post 13 found a unique way to bring the community together.

On Saturday, they hosted their 2nd annual ATV ride for their Shop with a Trooper program.

"It's just a fun way we can get everyone in the community involved. Everyone enjoys ATV rides and we got a beautiful set up here," said Trooper Matt Gayheart.

This year more than 400 participants showed up to spend the day riding on the trails through the mountains.

Riders traveled about 60 miles going across two counties.

"It means a lot to us to put something into such a great cause," said Gayheart.

The money raised will go toward buying presents and food for those in need during the holiday season.

After the five hours long ride, riders will meet back up for dinner and a ticket raffle.

Trooper Gayheart says this event continues to grow and they look forward to hosting it again next year.
