Three weeks after Blackjewel LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, employees are still living day to day without paychecks.

Harlan County Judge Executive Dan Mosley came up with a way to personally contribute to the miners and their families. During the weekend, Mosley posted on Facebook that he is auctioning off a signed University of Kentucky basketball.

The basketball is signed by the UK 2018-2019 players, including Tyler Herro, PJ Washington and Keldon Johnson. It is also autographed by Coach John Calipari and the assistant coaches, plus 1996 Kentucky National Championship players Derek Anderson, Anthony Epps and Cameron Mills.

Mosley said he plans to use the money from the auction to buy new shoes for the children of Blackjewel miners before school starts.

The auction lasts until Tuesday, July 23rd at 7:30 p.m. To make a bid, comment on Mosley's post attached below. (If viewing on a mobile app, click the link to view additional content.)
