Johnson Central wins first state football championship in school history, beats Franklin-Simpson 48-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WYMT) -- Well, that was easy.

Right from the get-go, Johnson Central had Franklin-Simpson on its heels and the Golden Eagles never let up.

Joe Jackson rushed for three touchdowns and Johnson Central won the Class 4A state football championship, 48-0, over Franklin-Simpson Sunday night.

It was the first state football championship in school history.

On the opening possession of the game, Jackson ran his first touchdown of the night in from 19 yards out then followed it up with a 29 yard touchdown run.

He scored his third in the second quarter before the Golden Eagles went into halftime with a running clock leading 36-0.

Johnson Central only gave up 18 total yards of offense.

The Golden Eagles finish the year 14-1 overall with their only loss coming to Belfry (the six-time Class 3A state champion).
