PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - The Jenny Wiley Festival kicked off Wednesday bringing vendors, musicians, crafters and more to the streets of downtown Prestonsburg.
The festival, an annual event hosted in the area, is all about celebrating the community that surrounds Jenny Wiley State Resort Park.
"The festival is something that our community has in common. It's something that we can all have fun doing together," said festival committee member Michael Ellis.
He said the event is more than food, rides and crafts.
"We can forget about our differences for a while and just enjoy the community that we have," said Ellis.
That community togetherness, he said, has helped contribute to the success of the event each year.
"Our festival is growing and that's exciting in our community," he said.
The festival wraps at 6 p.m. each night. Events continue through Saturday leading up to a free performance by Little Texas.
