Original Story 10/11/18
$7,000 worth of musical and electrical equipment was stolen from a church in Perry County.
Wednesday, members of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ were about to get ready for service later that day when they found out the building had been broken in to.
"It appears they got into the basement someway and came up the inside of the stairway," said Daniel Barnett, a deacon at the church.
Barnett says several guitars, banjos and other instruments were stolen. Some of those stolen instruments belonging to members of the congregation.
"Lost several guitars, some of them was expensive," said Barnett. "We had a young man here and it took him like eight months to pay for it."
Those who broke in tried to steal the sound system but dropped a speaker and microphone outside the door. Along with the instruments, several Bibles were stolen too.
"We had several Bibles that were taken in this break-in, we had some that were very special to people," said Barnett. "I just pray to God that they open up that Bible and read it some and you know something changes their heart."
Members of the congregation have brought in their own instruments to help make sure church can go on.
"We're going to continue having church, we're gonna continue, we're not gonna let this stop us," said Barnett.
Members of the church ask you to call them at 606-436-4451 if you have any information on where the instruments might be.
