Hunter Hills Elementary staff and students honored veterans for Veteran's Day on Friday.

A lunch was provided for veterans and their families at Hunter Hills, in light of Veteran's Day next week.

Jon Oliver, who has put on the celebration, said after doing a "Celebrate America" show after 9/1, it was turned into a Veteran's Day celebration for the last 17 years.

"We just invite veterans from the community to show our appreciation to them and teach our students patriotism and respect for our veterans," said Oliver.

It is a notion Korean War veteran Homer Bowling enjoys being a part of each year, saying the students and Oliver put on an amazing program.

"It's wonderful. It's really an honor to see kids get involved in things like that. And, I appreciate the school here for backing them up and letting them do these things," said Bowling.

The event ended with an assembly in the gym where students performed patriotic songs for the veterans.
