HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The University Center of the Mountains hosted more than 200 high school students for the 5th annual Academic Career Healthcare Conference.

Students from Cordia, Hazard, Leslie County ATC, Knott, Perry, Wolfe and Lee County ATC listened in on sessions throughout the day, covering the many options careers in healthcare have to offer.

"Kids will come in and they haven't heard these or don't know what it takes to prepare for those programs. So, I love it when I talk to kids later in the day and they maybe went to a session they maybe never thought about, and they go, 'I never thought about that career or didn't know what it is about' and now they're interested," said Dr. Deondra Mobelini, Executive Director of the University Center of the Mountains.

After lunch, students at HCTC were able to join the sessions.
