How to make a local impact on Giving Tuesday
With Black Friday, shop local Saturday, and Cyber Monday a lot of focus has been on shopping but the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is focused on one thing, giving.
Gerry Roll, Executive Director of The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, says Giving Tuesday allows people to give back to the things they care about.
"What do you care about? And for us, we care about communities. We are hoping on Giving Tuesday everybody out there will think about their favorite charities in their favorite cause what means something to them," said Roll. "By giving to the community foundation you can direct your dollars straight to the community where you live or want to give. "
The foundation hosts funds for nearly 200 nonprofits across the region.
"We for a multitude of non-profit organization's around the region. The clinic, the housing development alliance, the Challenger Center," said Roll. "Break out that dollar or one thousand dollars or one hundred dollars whatever you can give. "
He says this will help better the communities we live in one donation at a time.
"When all of us give we will always have enough," said Roll.
Over the last 10 years, the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky has given more than $10 million in grants.
