(WYMT) - Our Severe Weather Alert Day continues due to the Heat Advisory and Excessive Heat Warning issued for the mountains.
Tonight and Saturday
The heat has arrived and is here to stay as we head into the first half of your weekend.
We still have the Heat Advisory out for our area and an Excessive Heat Warning for a few of our counties until 8 p.m. Saturday. Heat indices this afternoon and into your Saturday will be near 100-105°.
I recommend staying inside this evening and Saturday afternoon. If you do plan on spending time outdoors make sure to take plenty of breaks in the shade and drink plenty of water. Also, remember to look before you lock! Never lead pets or children unattended in a car.
Overnight lows will drop into the low to mid-70s so it'll still be a warm night ahead. Saturday highs will be in the lower 90s once again. We could see a stray shower or two Saturday, mainly to the south, but most of us stay dry.
Sunday and Monday
The good news is a cold front will move in Sunday and into Monday which will cool us off. The bad news is we bring back more rain.
Sunday we'll start the day with a mixture of sun and clouds with scattered to widespread rain chances. Highs will be in the low to mid-80s with overnight lows near 70.
Soggier conditions arrive Monday as that front continues to push through. Highs will be near 80 with lows in the lower 60s.
After the front moves through sunshine returns along with much cooler temperatures.
We'll hang onto a few chances Tuesday morning but we'll clear out by the afternoon.
Highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s for the rest of the work week.
Relief is on the way!
