Hot and humid, summertime pattern continues

By  |

(WYMT) - The heat and humidity continue as we head into the end of the work week and into the holiday weekend.

Tonight and Friday
A good portion of our area is under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) severe weather this evening. The best chance for showers and storms will be in the northern part of the viewing area, mainly the Big Sandy Region. Some of these pop-up storms could be on the strong side, but most of us do stay dry this evening. We will see a few clouds as we head into the overnight hours with temperatures dropping into the upper 60s.

For Friday we continue to see temperatures in the upper 80s with a few chances for showers and storms. It looks like the best chance will be earlier in the day. It'll be a hot and humid day at the Mountain Laurel Festival in Pineville! We'll be out doing Guest Weather so come say hi! Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90 in some spots. Make sure to stay hydrated!

Memorial Day Weekend
Once again, we still have the chance for a few pop-ups Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Overall it looks like a mostly dry weekend with very hot temperatures!

Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. A lot of people like to spend this holiday weekend outside but just make sure to stay hydrated and wear plenty of sunscreen!

Extended Forecast
As we head into the new work week it looks like we see the same summertime pattern.

Highs look to remain in the upper 80s with scattered rain chances. If you are a fan of summer it looks like it has arrived!
