Highschoolers from Nebraska do service work in Eastern Kentucky
A group of high schoolers from Nebraska took a service trip to Kentucky. The group paired with the Housing Development Alliance in Hazard to build and remodel homes for those in need.
"This is a great group of kids. These kids they are very caring and they're just I can't say enough good things about them. Give them a job and they'll get it done," said sponsor Tammie Nowka.
One group is spending the week in Hazard building a new porch for an elderly woman. The porch will have ramps and railing to prevent her from falling.
"It makes me feel good. It makes me feel happy helping other people that maybe can't do it," said Mark Cody who is one of the students volunteering.
Other kids from the same group are spending their week in Knott county building a house from the ground up. All of the volunteers will be in town working until Friday.
