High pressure will dominate bringing us drier and warmer weather

(WYMT) - High pressure will start to set up bringing us drier and warmer weather to end your work week.

Today and Friday
High pressure will dominate the region as we head into the end of the work week.

For Thursday and Friday, we'll see mostly sunny skies. Thursday will be a little bit cooler before we crank up the heat heading into Friday. Highs for Thursday will remain in the mid to upper 80's while Friday we will reach near 90 degrees. Heat index values will also climb making it feel like mid to upper 90's by the end of the week. Lows for Thursday and Friday will be in the upper 60's to 70 with mostly clear skies.

The Weekend
For the first half of the weekend, we look to remain dry with a stray shower or two possible. Highs will be in the low 90's with heat index values near 100 at times! You'll need to keep the water bottles handy at all times this weekend and take it easy if you are outside.

Sunday scattered showers and storms will return for Sunday with highs near 90.

Extended Forecast
We will hang onto the rain chances as we head into the beginning of the work week. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80's for the week with daily rain chances. Another cold front will make its way into eastern Kentucky Tuesday and Wednesday bringing us a greater chance for showers and thunderstorms.
