HARLAN, Ky. (WYMT) - Update: 7/31/19
Harlan County Judge-Executive Dan Mosley announced Wednesday that the job fair for Blackjewel miners on Aug. 1 is postponed.
Mosley said representatives of FLUOR and UIG are still working through the process of getting its contract signed.
The companies said it would be best to have the job fair after the contract is signed.
Currently, there is no new date set for the job fair.
We will update this information when the date is announced.
Harlan County Judge-Executive Dan Mosley has unveiled further details on the company looking to hire Blackjewel miners.
In a Facebook post Thursday, Mosley said the company FLUOR and United Infrastructure Group will hold a job fair in Harlan on Thursday, August 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The company is looking to hire 25 to 35 positions to work on a highway expansion project in Asheville, North Carolina which is approximately 2.5 hours from Harlan.
This expansion is a four-year project. Workers would be supplied a place to stay during the week while working on the project but are still able to live in Harlan County.
