A new internet scam has hit Eastern Kentucky in the form of a concert announcement.

The Appalachian Wireless Arena is warning its customers to be aware of scammers attempting to sell tickets to a Guns N' Roses concert.

The sellers claim the show will take place at the East Kentucky Exposition Center, now the Appalachian Wireless Arena.

Marketing Director Josh Kesler said the arena has received calls and messages this week asking about the concert. He said there is no plan in place for the band to play at the venue, adding that the arena's marketing team would have announced any concert to the public.

Kesler said the band is playing at the Kentucky Exposition Center this year and he thinks the scammer is taking advantage of the similar venue name as a way to scam Eastern Kentuckians.

"Someone, overseas or whatever, thought they could make some money off of people who don't know that. And hopefully, they didn't," Kesler said. "Do not buy tickets. It is a scam."

He said all online concert tickets go through Ticketmaster, and any questions about tickets or shows should be directed to the arena.
