LESLIE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - There is some good news for Blackjewel miners in Leslie County.

The Thompson Foundation is giving $50,000 to the Leslie County Community Foundation to distribute among the Blackjewel miners on Thursday.

Each miner can receive up to $600 dollars to help pay their bills. Joel Brashear, chairman of the Leslie County Community Foundation, says they spent the last week working on the best way to get miners this money.

"The three things that the miners need to bring in is a photo ID, they need the last pay stub they got from Blackjewel and then paper bills they need us to pay."

Blackjewel miners are asked to go to Big Creek Mission's 'The Well' in Leslie County between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to get their money.

Brashear says they are also working on a backup day for miners who might not be able to come on Thursday.
