Free public transportation now available for people in Hazard
Starting Monday there is a new form of free public transportation for people in Hazard.
LKLP Community Action Council is partnering with the City of Hazard and Perry County Fiscal Court to introduce a free three-month trial transportation route throughout the city limits.
Angel Holliday, the first person to use the transportation system, says it allows her to complete the necessary tasks.
"It's able to help me get my groceries that I need to get. If I needed to go to the bank or something I could go to the bank without having any trouble or having to get into my pocket to get any money out."
The route will run Monday through Friday starting at 6:00 a.m. and wrapping up at 6:00 p.m. Holliday says it is something the community has needed for a while.
"It's about time they started to do some things like that to help those who don't have a vehicle and those people who have to go quite a far ways to go. Since I lost my car I've had to walk everywhere I had to go and my feet can feel it.”
There are more than 20 stops on the route. Attached below are a schedule and a full list of stops on the transportation route. (If viewing on a mobile app, click the link to see additional content.)
