FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- Saturday is DC Comics Wonder Woman Day and many at the Floyd County Public Library are celebrating.

Employees at the library held a Wonder Woman Day event.

Girls in the community were invited to learn more about science, technology, engineering and math and ask questions to a female panel.

Organizers said they want to empower young girls in the community.

"There's no dream they can't pursue, they just have to keep on trying to pursue it and try to overcome every obstacle that comes at them, that's what it's more about, it's not just about Wonder Woman, it's a day of encouragement, inspiration and empowerment," said Randy Reno, Program Director at the Floyd County Public Library.

The event featured electricity circuit kits, coloring, and making their own Wonder Woman bracelets and tiara.

Organizers said they believe girls in the community can achieve great things.
