MOREHEAD, Ky. (WYMT/WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are investigating after firefighters found a badly burnt body in a truck Monday evening.
Sister station WKYT reports crews were fighting a forest fire off Lockegee Road when they saw a truck on a nearby trail.
Inside was a body, burned so badly they could not identify it.
The body is in Frankfort for an autopsy. Police said the death is not suspicious but they are waiting on the autopsy before they say anything for sure.
"But it is indicative of the conditions. Although we've had a record wet year, the fact that we're having a fire this size shows you how just in a few days, conditions can change. And today it's supporting a pretty substantial fire," said Jon Kazmierski with the US Forest Service.
The fire is still burning at last check, but forestry officials said it appears to be contained.
