(WYMT) - Our Severe Weather Alert Day continues as scattered snow showers will impact the mountains tonight, especially those higher elevations.
Tonight and Tomorrow
That Winter Weather Advisory will remain in effect for our eastern counties until 9 p.m. A few counties will hang on to that advisory until 1 a.m. Tuesday. The Winter Storm Warning for Harlan, Letcher and Wise County, VA remains in effect until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Scattered snow showers will continue this evening. Mainly those in the higher elevations will see impacts. The snow showers that fall tonight will likely stick to the ground in those higher elevations which will make for a slick morning commute Tuesday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
Tuesday we could see a few flurries in the morning, but we will start to dry out. We'll hang onto those clouds for most of the day with highs only reaching the upper 30s to close to 40°. Clouds will start to break later Tuesday night with overnight lows dropping into the lower 30s.
We'll start to warm up as we head into the rest of the workweek! Highs will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s throughout the week and into the weekend.
Mostly sunny skies will return for your Wednesday and Thursday. It looks like stray rain chances could move back into the forecast for your Friday. We have some state football games going at Kroger Field Friday and Saturday. That rain should not impact those games on Friday, but this is something we will keep a close eye on over the next few days.
The weekend looks nice with sunshine and highs in the lower 50s! Our next system looks to move in late Sunday into early Monday. More on that later.
