Officials with the Christian Appalachian Project honored Feed the Children Thursday for helping people in Appalachia.

Feed the Children has made a significant impact on Central Appalachia and has come alongside the Christian Appalachian Project for more than 25 years to help people in need in the region.

"There's such a need. There are many people who are facing poverty daily," said Feed the Children President and CEO Travis Arnold.

Arnold continued with the mission of the Feed the Children.

“Feed the Children’s mission is to provide hope and resources for those without life’s essentials. We strive to achieve our mission every day with the help of our wonderful partners,” Arnold said. “We have an excellent longstanding partnership with CAP’s Operation Sharing because our common goal is to help kids be kids.”

Officials with the organizations said working together makes them stronger.

"Our partners have really helped us to help these people in need for a number of years," said Christian Appalachian Project Director Jeff Burchett.

Arnold said he enjoys helping people across the world.

"It's a hand up, not a hand down," said Arnold.
