FDA: Customers should not eat candy made by Kentucky manufacturer after employee diagnosed with hepatitis A

(WYMT/WKYT) - Customers are being told by the FDA to not eat and to throw away Bauer's Candies' Modjeskas.

Our sister station WKYT reports, the FDA says the warning applies to any of the candy bought after Nov. 14.

This alert comes after one of Bauer's employees was diagnosed with case of hepatitis A.

The store's owner contacted WKYT and told them she was under the impression the FDA's warning only applied to candies made from Nov. 16-23. However, this was contradictory to what was stated in the FDA's earlier news release.

No additional cases of hepatitis A are being reported.

The local health department did not advise customers to throw out any of the company's product as people who purchased the candy while the employee worked at the company are at a very low risk of becoming infected.
