LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A former Kentucky school employee accused of having sex with an underage student has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to rape and sodomy charges.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports 28-year-old Lindsey Banta Jarvis received the sentence Wednesday in Woodford County. She is scheduled to be sentenced in Fayette County on Friday on a rape charge involving the same student.

Jarvis resigned last year from the Fayette County schools, where she worked as an instructional assistant. Before that, she worked in the Woodford County school district as a social studies teacher.

Police said the investigation began in 2016 when a Versailles officer found Jarvis and the boy, then 15, in a car at 1:17 a.m. at a Woodford County park.
