Eastern Kentucky students win statewide poster contest

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WYMT) - Several Kentucky students won the 2019 Public Service Recognition Week poster contest. Three of them were from right here in the mountains.

Cooper James Bradley from Jackson Independent Schools, Lindsey Styer from Wrigley Elementary in West Liberty and Mahayla Mounce from Meese Middle School in Somerset took home honors.

First place winners were awarded $50.00 and a metal printing of their artwork. Second and third place winners were awarded a wooden plaque of their art. Second place also won $25.00. Third place won $10.00.

First Place:
Maya Muñoz - Southwest Calloway Elementary School, Murray, KY

Second Place:
Cooper James Bradley - Jackson Independent School, Jackson, KY

Third Place:
Lindsey Rae Styer - Wrigley Elementary School, West Liberty, KY

Age Group: 10-13

First Place:
Mahayla Mounce - Meese Middle School, Somerset, KY

Second Place:
David Johnson - Sinking Fork Elementary School, Hopkinsville, KY

Third Place:
Kayln Capps - Southwest Calloway Elementary School, Murray, KY

Age Group: 14-18

First Place:
Brooklyn McAlister - West Jessamine Middle School, Nicholasville, KY

Second Place:
Cheyenne Aaron - Monroe County High School, Tompkinsville, KY

Third Place:
Katie Ostroske - West Jessamine Middle School, Nicholasville, KY
