A documentary, "Killing Coal Country" debuted at the University of Pikeville Film and Media Arts Festival on Saturday evening. This documentary exposes the so-called "war on coal."

Slater Teague, film maker, shared that this documentary exposes the recent decline of the coal industry.

The film was primarily shot in eastern Kentucky. Teague said Pikeville was the “perfect” place for the documentary to be shown.

Teague's focus was to show how federal regulations have led to a decline in the industry.

"(In) our part of the country, there are a lot of stereotypes out there," Teague said. "And quite frankly, (there are) just a lot of myths and misunderstandings. So hopefully my documentary will bring some clarity to a lot of those things."

Teague shared he hopes his documentary will make an impact.
