LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Update 4/30/2019
Vanover's bond is being kept at $100,000 cash.

A grand jury will decide whether to indict him.

Original Story
Laurel County deputies arrested a man on Sunday morning for assaulting someone and causing life-threatening injuries to them.

Deputies say they were called out to Vaughn Ridge Road, west of London for a fight complaint.

A 32-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries to his head, face, and back. He was treated at the scene and later airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Deputies found a pocket knife at the scene. They charged Charles Ray Vanover with assault first degree.

Vanover was taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.

Police said neither Vanover or the victim lived at the home where the violence happened. They also said they are not going to release the motive behind the fight.

Our reporter asked jail staff if Vanover would like to talk to us but they said he declined.
