Update: Name released of person killed in Hwy. 80 crash

KNOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Update

Crash between a coal truck and another vehicle on Hwy. 80 on Rock Fork.

The Knott County Coroner released the name of the person killed in the crash on Highway 80.

Officials tell WYMT 50-year-old Danny Kestner of Perry County was killed when the car he was driving crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a loaded coal truck.

The driver of the coal truck was not injured in the crash and escaped with only some burnt hair.

Toxicology reports are being performed on Kestner and are expected back in about three weeks.

The crash is under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard.

Our viewers sent us numerous pictures of a crash on Hwy. 80 in Knott County Monday morning.

Kentucky State Police confirmed there was a crash on Hwy. 80 on Rock Fork near the Knott County Sportsplex.

The Knott County coroner tells us the crash was between a coal truck and another vehicle. A man in the vehicle was killed. We do not know the condition of the coal truck driver, but we know he is alive at this time.

No names have been released. We ask that you leave any names out of the comments until the family is notified and police release that information.

Our reporter at the scene said the road is currently closed in both directions as crews work the scene. We do not know how long the road will be closed.
