Cool, but dry start to the week

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The cold front has passed through the region, but the windy conditions will continue for a little while longer before calming down later today.

Today and Tonight
After a bit of a chilly start to the day under cloudy skies, I do think conditions will start to improve quickly later this afternoon. The sun will reappear and temps will only climb into the mid-50s.

Tonight, skies will clear out and temps will drop. Most locations will drop into the low 40s or the ridges and into the 30s in the valleys.

Extended Forecast
High pressure continues through midweek, bringing us sunny skies and warmer temperatures. Highs Tuesday through Thursday will be in the 70s and close to 80. Lows will drop into the mid to upper 50s.

A new front will work its way toward the region by the end of the week, bringing chances for showers and storms back into play. We'll keep you posted on that one.
