Congressman Hal Rogers defeats Democratic opponent to serve 20th term

(WYMT) - In Kentucky's 5th Congressional District, Congressman Hal Rogers has won his race and will serve his 20th term.

Voters first elected the now 80-year-old incumbent in 1981.

Rogers is Kentucky's longest-serving Republican, besting U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell by four years.

Rogers' opponent was Clay County Attorney Kenneth Stepp.
