HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT)- Leslie Hall died in a car crash in September of 2019. On Saturday, more than 50 people came together to participate in a ‘Zumbathon’ in her honor.
“There's been a great turnout and a great time to honor such a special person,” said Tim Deaton, a good friend of Hall.
Hall was a certified Zumba instructor. Some of the people she taught came out to the event.
"A lot of the people who came ten years ago are here today. So the fact that those people think enough of her and her family that they want to come back out and, you know, some people are not in the same shape they were ten years ago,” said organizer and relative of Hall, Wanda Brown.
Several people and local businesses donated items for a silent auction that also took place at the event.
“A lot of people have gone out of their way to help us with this event and we could never repay them,” said Misty Bellis, sister of Leslie Hall.
The money raised will go to Hall’s immediate family.
“We just miss her every day,” said Brown.
Those who participated in the ‘Zumbathon’ raised more than $5,000 for Leslie Hall’s family.
