(WYMT) - Warming up tomorrow before another frontal system moves into the mountains, possibly bringing snow.
Tonight and Tomorrow
There is a Freeze Warning for Lee County in Virginia and Claiborne and Campbell County in Tennessee until 10 a.m. Sunday.
The cold temperatures will continue tonight with mostly clear skies and overnight lows dropping into the lower 20s.
The good news is we warm back up Sunday with highs in the upper 40s. We will also see mostly sunny skies Sunday, but clouds will start to increase by the overnight hours as a cold front approaches the mountains on Monday. Overnight lows will be in the mid 30s.
Monday and Tuesday
Monday and Tuesday another frontal system moves into the mountains bringing rain and possibly some snow.
Monday will be mostly cloudy and soggy. We'll start off the day dry with the bulk of the rain moving in by the afternoon into evening hours. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s. The colder air will move in later Monday into Tuesday morning.
The showers continue into your Tuesday and with temperatures dropping the rain could turn into a wintry mix/snow. This will all depend on how fast the temperatures drop. We will see highs in the upper 30s early Tuesday and temperatures will drop throughout the day.
The GFS is now suggesting the rain will be out before temperatures start to drop below freezing. Our far northwestern counties could see snow along with northern Kentucky.
The NAM is also showing the bulk of the showers getting out of Eastern Kentucky before freezing temperatures arrive. NAM is suggesting most of Kentucky will see rain with a possible mix early Tuesday morning.
The EURO is also showing more rain with a possible wintery mix Tuesday morning.
All of the models suggest the bulk of the showers will be out of Eastern Kentucky before the freezing temperatures arrive. We could see a wintery mix for our northwestern counties. We will continue to monitor this system throughout the next couple of days.
We keep the chilly temperatures for your Wednesday with highs in the mid to upper 30s and overnight lows in the mid-20s.
The good news is we stay drop and warm for the end of your work week. Highs will rebound into the upper 40s to lower 50s and lows in the mid to upper 30s.
