Cold front will provide more showers and storms

(WYMT) - The rain gear will come in handy during the next few days!

(MGN)

Tonight and Thursday
For the majority of this evening, we'll continue to see mostly dry conditions. Those rain chances look to arrive late tonight into early Thursday morning as that cold front continues to approach the mountains. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 70s.

The morning commute on Thursday will be on the rainy side for some, so give yourself extra time for travel. We could see a slight rain break during the day with more scattered showers and storms by the afternoon and lasting into the overnight hours. Highs will be in the mid-80s with overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s. We are under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather on Thursday so a few of those storms in the afternoon could be on the strong to severe side. Keep the WYMT Weather App handy over the next few days!

Friday
That cold front will continue to push through the mountains for your Friday which will bring more soggy conditions into the mountains.

Models are hinting at more rain in the morning with some clearing by the afternoon/evening hours which is some good news for Friday night football fans. However, I would pack the rain gear because this is a new trend with the models. Earlier in the week, models suggested rain throughout the entire day.

Highs will be cooler with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 60s as well.

Extended Forecast
Those scattered rain chances will continue as we head into the weekend.

The weekend does not look like a total washout but isolated storms are likely both days. Highs will be in the lower 80s with overnight lows in the low to mid-60s! At least it is looking like a cooler weekend!

Right now we will continue the daily rain chances into the new work week.
