(WYMT) - Clearing skies and colder temperatures have been the main story for Wednesday. While the winds are providing a cooler feel, it's still a nice day in Eastern Kentucky with temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s. So what can we expect for the next couple of days? Let's discuss.
Clear skies will continue for tonight with mostly clear skies. Winds will shift from the west to the southwest, increasing the temperatures early Thursday morning. Our low tonight will reach the lower 30s tonight. Patchy dense fog should be limited due to the steady winds at 5-15 mph.
Your Valentine's Day forecast looks pretty good, at least for most of the day. Sunny skies will continue and temperatures will climb due to southwesterly winds. We will see highs top out near 60 with a few locations warmer than that. The clouds will start to increase later in the day as our next system approaches.
If you have dinner plans, I think you'll be ok to leave the umbrella at home. The rain chances will move in later during the overnight hours. We'll drop into the upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies by Friday morning.
Those rain chances will be the main story for Friday with highs in the low-mid 50s. Mostly cloudy skies and showers are expected for the end of the work week. This first system will be all rain for Friday during the day. Cold temperatures will slowly work back into the forecast, allowing for a transition to snow late Friday and into Saturday. Moisture will be available as another system works into the region Saturday morning.
I'm still not too impressed with the snow chances, but they are there. We will continue to monitor the latest changes over the next couple of days.
