PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Many in Eastern Kentucky woke up to a little bit of snow on the ground Wednesday morning.
As you leave your house, officials urge you to leave earlier, drive slower, and know the forecast.
Also, keeping an emergency kit with you could save your life.
Pikeville 911 director Paul Maynard says it is better to be safe than sorry.
"Maybe some type of alternative heat, things like that. You never know. We're in a pretty decently populated area but if you break down or slide off the road, you could be there for quite some time. It's better to be prepared ahead of time," explained Maynard.
Maynard says keeping water, blankets, or even a snack in your vehicle could help prepare you for disaster.
