MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ/WYMT) -- A woman could face charges after a case of an unattended death and neglect in Mingo County, West Virginia.
West Virginia State Police found a man dead in his home and two other family members bedridden and in need of medical attention.
It happened Tuesday in the Varney area of Mingo County.
Troopers tell our sister station WSAZ that they were assisting Adult Protective Services when they found the body of George Blair, 60, in his home. Troopers say the man appeared to have been dead for ''an extended period of time.''
Investigators also found a 58-year-old woman, the victim's wife, and a 38-year-old man, the victim's son, bedridden inside the home and in need of medical treatment.
Both victims were transported to Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky.
Troopers found two dogs in the home as well, tied to interior door handles. Animal control removed the dogs from the home.
The incident is still under investigation. While charges have not been filed yet, troopers say they believe a woman was in charge of caring for the victims.
