Change of heart; Matt House leaving Kentucky for the NFL

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Following a weekend where he said he would stay in Lexington Kentucky's Defensive coordinator is leaving for the NFL.

Matt House is heading to Kansas City to be the Chiefs linebackers coach according to Kentucky Sports Radio.

KSR says the Chiefs were originally unwilling to pay a buyout of $150,000 but have backtracked on that and will now pony up.

This year was House's third season at Kentucky, second as defensive coordinator. House coached a group lead by top 5 NFL draft pick Josh Allen that allowed only 16.8 points per game.

Prior to his stint in the college ranks, he was an NFL assistant for the, then St. Louis Rams, and Carolina Panthers.

Some speculate Kentucky will promote from within, instead of going with an outside hire. However, Stoops told Matt Jones on KSR later that morning his brother might also be an option.
