CDC: Flu upgraded to 'widespread' in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The flu has been upgraded to 'widespread' across Tennessee, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

East Tennessee has a higher percentage of influenza-like illness compared to other regions across the state.

The Tennessee Department of Health reports that Knoxville and Knox County has 11.8% of patients visiting clinics with influenza. That's the highest percentage compared to the rest of the state.

The East Tennessee region beyond Knox County reports 6.2% of patients with the flu.
