HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - It was the buzz around town today!
Bee school was in session at Hazard Community and Technical College.
More than 200 people attended the Eastern Kentucky Winter Bee School to learn everything from the basics of beekeeping to more advanced classes, such as Queen Bee breeding.
We are told beekeeping is an important part of Eastern Kentucky's heritage.
"The people in Eastern Kentucky grew-up with a Grandma or an Aunt or an Uncle who was a Beekeeper, so this is still a skill that is respected in this region, so we're just trying to provide the education that goes along with it," Tammy Horn Potter who is the State Apiarist with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture said.
