PIKE CO., Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville is investigating after a man was found dead Monday afternoon.

Police said they found the body on Fishtrap Mine Road in the Biggs community near Fedscreek.

Kentucky State Police tell us, James Wolford, 52, of Jamboree, was found dead at Fishtrap Lake. The lake is part of the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River.

When troopers first responded to the 911 call, they thought drowning may be the cause of death.

As of now, police said they are waiting for an autopsy to provide answers in this investigation.

"In the detective's investigation, it's a possibility that drugs or alcohol were involved in this case that would be determined by the blood toxicology, the pathology with the medical examiner in Frankfort," said Trooper William Petry.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, but a death investigation has been opened.
