Body found in Laurel County creek

Laurel County deputies say a man's body was found on Sunday afternoon in a creek.

"On Sunday, a ground crew found a male subject in a creek. Approximately a mile from where the Gibson residence is," says Laurel County Sheriff's Office Public Affairs Deputy, Gilbert Acciardo.

Deputies said they need to confirm the person's identity and that body was being sent to Frankfort.

"We're relatively sure that is who it is. But we want that confirmation fro Frankfort, from the autopsy, before we actually say it is him," Acciardo adds.

An autopsy will be performed on Monday.

A cause of death is not known at this time.
