RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Sister station WKYT reports that the Blue Grass Army Depot started destroying nerve agent stored at the facility.

More than 500 tons of chemical weapons are currently housed at the base.

They say the first nerve agent projectile was destroyed Friday.

The destruction of the mustard gas stockpile at the depot began last summer.

The full chemical weapons stockpile is scheduled to be destroyed by the end of 2023.
