FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Big Sandy Community and Technical College is partnering with Bellevue University creating more opportunity for students in the region.

The new partnership allows students to take online courses through Bellevue and complete an associates, bachelors, or even masters degree.

Officials told WYMT Bellevue University offers more than 40 degrees online.

The program breaks classes up every six weeks putting students on an accelerated course to finished their associate degree in about 18 months.

Officials believe providing an online opportunity helps create a work ready community.

"Whenever most students transfer out if they are having to go to another school then that takes them out of our community," said Savannah Castle, Relationship Manager for Bellevue University. "So Bellevue is allowing them to do an online option that is still going to keep them in their community where they live."

Officials said if you are interested in applying you can contact the school and they will wave the application fee.
