HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A cold front is approaching the region today, keeping the rain chances in play for a little longer.
Today and Tonight
Rain and fog will start our day off in some locations. If you're not seeing rain early, look for sun and clouds. Clouds will increase for all later today as rain chances ramp back up.
All of Eastern Kentucky is under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather from the Storm Prediction Center. Heavy rain and damaging winds are the main threats. Some storms could be on the stronger side.
Highs should top out in the low to mid-80s with rain chances around 50%.
Tonight, the rain chances continue under mostly cloudy skies. More fog develops late. Lows drop into the mid-60s.
Thursday and Friday
After a few chances for showers early Thursday morning, I think we'll dry out quickly to mostly sunny skies by the afternoon. Highs will top out in the mid-80s before dropping into the mid-60s under clear skies.
Friday features the three H's: Hazy, hot and humid. Look for mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 80s.
The weekend could be the hottest days we've seen so far this year. I think we stay dry on Saturday and mostly dry on Sunday. Our rain chance on Sunday will definitely be in the heat of the afternoon. Highs will be close to 90 both days under mainly sunny skies. Rain chance on Sunday is about 20%.
Lows both nights will be close to 70.
