2 arrested in Harlan County following large meth bust

SMITH, Ky. (WYMT) - Sheriff's deputies in Harlan County made a large drug bust Thursday night in the community of Smith.

The Harlan County Sheriff's Office arrested Victor Stewart, 25, of Cawood and Lauren Dozier, 22, of Harlan. They are charged with first-degree trafficking in meth, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, third-degree trafficking in marijuana, trafficking in a legend drug, trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree criminal trespassing and public intoxication.

The arrests came after deputies responded to a complaint about a car parked at an empty home around 10 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found Stewart and Dozier.

A third person on an ATV ran from police. We do not know if they later arrested the individual.

In addition to more than 70 grams of meth seized, deputies found prescription pills and marijuana.

Deputies said several bags were packaged for resale with a street value of more than $7,000.

Cash and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Stewart and Dozier were taken to the Harlan County Detention Center.
