The Harlan County Community Action Agency is helping miners meets immediate needs that they listed at a meeting with county officials on Monday night.
Staff at the Harlan County Community Action Agency say they are helping miners sign up for unemployment and helping to get assistance for their water and electricity.
The agency has also been connecting miners to local churches who are giving assistance in other ways which staff say miners have been appreciative of.
"Anyone out there that just needs assistance that's uh, been involved with this terrible situation, we're here and we'll do everything that we can to help you," says Jill Blevins, Workforce Services Director.
Blevins says they require an I.D. and the last paycheck miners received before the paycheck that bounced.
