I have been passionate about writing since I was six years old.
Growing up, I always knew whatever career I chose, I wanted to LOVE my job every day.
I have been passionate about writing since I was six years old and when I got to middle school, I would watch the news every morning, which is when I truly fell in love with Broadcast Journalism. I remember seeing the Reporter and Anchors every morning on our local station, WIS-TV, and then the Reporters and Anchors on the TODAY Show and thinking those people look like they LOVE their jobs and they get to write everyday…and something clicked...that was when everything fell into place.
During my Senior Year in high school, I completed a Sports Internship at WIS-TV. I knew NOTHING about sports at the time, but QUICKLY learned during my year long internship, that experience has caused me to become an avid fan of college sports.
However, my passion has always been in news and telling people’s stories. So, I headed off to Indiana University where I got my degree in Broadcast Journalism. While I was in college, I completed a News Internship at WIS-TV and after I graduated, I was hired there to work behind the scenes.
But, I always wanted to be the Reporter/Anchor who met the viewers, told their stories and brought them their news every day, so I took a job in Amarillo, Texas as a Reporter before taking my most recent job in Anchorage, Alaska where I worked as a Weekend Anchor/Reporter.
Being in Alaska was quite the experience for someone who grew-up in the South, but I learned so much there as I was able to do all aspects of Broadcast Journalism from shooting, writing and editing stories, to producing newscasts, to anchoring and even doing the weather.
I’m excited to be back in the Lower 48 and here in Eastern Kentucky! I can’t wait to meet our WYMT viewers and hear all the stories you have to tell.
In my free time I enjoy drinking sweet tea (something which was very hard to find in Alaska), spending time with my family and friends, watching college sports (mainly football and basketball) and going to the movies.
If you have a story idea or would like to just say hello you can email me at email@example.com. I’m so excited to start this next phase of my adventure!
